The Advantages of Learning English for College Students


College Student is a student who studies a particular field of knowledge in a university. When college students have finished their study, they will graduate from the university. After they have graduated, some of different ways will be taken by them. It can be continuing the education or applying for a job. For college students, there are three advantages of learning English for their next steps.

First is having more change to get scholarship of abroad education. When College students desire to get a scholarship to study abroad, of course there are several requirements which must be completed by them. Some of important requirements are standart persentage of TOEFL, IELTS, and English Interview. College students who can speak English well and understand about the basic of English will be easier to fill the requirements. These requirements are needed because when College students get the scholarship to study abroad, they will use English as their daily language. So, it is important for College students to learn English, especially for College students who wan to get scholarship of abroad education.

Second, English can become one of the additional skills when applying for a job. College students who will be an applicant to apply for a job must have a special skill or advantage which other competitors do not have it. English also can be the additional skills when applying for a job such as business online, translator, job or a job which related with communication in English. In other word, not all of competitors have additional skill in understanding and mastering English. So, English will be a surplus and also very useful for College students who learn English when applying for a job in the future.

Third, the advantages of learning English for College students are not only to get the scholarship of abroad education and being the additional skill when applying for a job, but also English learners can communicate and socialize with many people around the world. The other important things, English is an International language. When two people who come from different country are meeting accidentally, of course they will communicate with English. So with English, everyone can share and contribute in the International communication.

In conclusion, learning English is very important for College students because beside of three advantages which is mentioned above, there are many other advantages of learning English. Learning a knowledge will not be in vain and it will definitely bring a benefit in the future. And the last, learning English provide many advantages for learners.

Teacher shows students examples of descriptive text such as description of Justin Bieber, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), and Museum Mpu Tantular by using Padlet Application.

Teacher explains the descriptive text, includes of text structure and components of descriptive text using Power Point.

Students classify the text structure of the descriptive text.

In order to make sure that students have catch the point of this explanation, teacher asks students about the text structure which related to the texts, then students answer those questions.

Teacher divides the class into some groups. Each groups consist of two students (in pairs with their tablemate).

While – Activity

1.
Teacher gives students an opportunity to choose one of topic which is pointed by teacher, such as people, tourism destinations, and famous historical buildings.

Teacher teaches students about how to make a descriptive text using Padlet Application.

Students write a descriptive text with students’ own language (paraphrase the information which is gotten from the internet) by using Padlet Application.

Students point out their result into PDF file using Padlet Application.

The result of Padlet will be handed in by email in PDF format. Students need to send their file to teacher’s email : eviayunine@gmail.com


While – Activity

1.
Teacher will pick students’ randomly to present the result of their task in front of the class.

While students’ perform in pairs in front of the class, other students should listen to the performers because after the presentation the performers will give audiences a question like a quiz for their friends. This question related to the particular generic structure of the descriptive text. The audiences who can answer the question, they will get a point from the teacher.

Comics Authoring can be used to teach reading become more interesting for students. Beside making our lesson more interesting, teacher can also integrate the technology in learning activity. So, the learning activity can be more variety and it doesn't make students feel boring when they learn Foreign Language in the classroom. WELCOME TO MY BLOG




Assalamu'alaikum wr.wb, 
hello.. my name is Evi Ayunin. I would like to share a lot of inforamation which I have. I have an experience in using computer, especially when I was in Senior High School, there was a "Program Pendidikan Terapan Bidang TIK (PRODISTIK)" from my school which cooperated with ITS. In this program, students learned about how to operate a lot of softwares which have much of benefits to use in the next stages in their education or maybe to apply for a job. Some of softwares which I have learned and insyaallah, I still remember to operate the softwares for now from PRODISTIK are Adobe Flash, Adobe Premiere CS 3 and CS 6, and Corel Draw. But, for a presentation I usually use the power point because I think that it is easy for me to operate it.  Okay, that's all from me, thank you for reading my introduction :) ...
